SensorTune Privacy Policy
Summary: SensorTune is a local-first motion music app. It runs offline by default: we do not upload your performances, raw sensor streams, or personally identifying information to our servers. There is no account, no ads, and no cross-app tracking. Motion sensors are read only to play sounds and show visuals on your device.
1. Scope
This policy describes how the SensorTune mobile app (Android
app.sensortune.sensortune_app, iOS app.sensortune.sensortuneApp) and this
website handle data in the current version. If a future version adds accounts, cloud sync, or server
uploads, we will update this policy and notify you in the app.
2. What we do not do
- No login or user account
- No microphone access in the current version
- No upload of sensor streams, performances, or creative content to developer-controlled servers for identification, analytics, or ads
- No advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking
3. Data stored on your device
To save preferences and your content, the app may use on-device storage (settings, instrument rules, library hide lists, imported MIDI metadata, local performance clips, etc.). This data stays on your device unless you back it up yourself or uninstall the app (which may clear it).
4. Motion sensors
For shake-to-play, the app reads motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, and when available magnetometer, barometer, proximity). Readings are used in memory for real-time mapping and visuals. Raw sensor streams are not uploaded to our servers. Shake triggering pauses when the app is backgrounded to avoid accidental plays without on-screen controls.
5. Library playback and notifications
When you play songs in the library, playback may continue in the background with system media notifications / lock-screen controls. Those notifications are for media control only—not ads—and do not upload playback content to us.
6. Network and third-party pages
If you choose to open an external site from the app (for example BitMidi via the system browser), that site’s own privacy policy applies. Opening a link does not cause us to upload your local performances or sensor data.
7. System and third-party components
The app is built with Flutter and relies on OS APIs (audio session, media notifications, sensors). Behavior is constrained by system settings and permissions you grant.
8. Children
Please use the app under guardian guidance if you are a minor. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes
We may revise this policy when features change. Updated versions appear in the app and on this page with a new effective date.
